April 21, 2022 - Chief Information Officer (CIO) Jean Bousquet has announced plans to retire, after nearly 30 years with the Wisconsin court system. Bousquet joined the courts as a court analyst in 1993. She became CCAP (Consolidated Court Automation Programs) director in 1998 and has served as CIO since 2001.

The Wisconsin circuit courts are the state's trial courts. Circuit courts have original jurisdiction in all civil and criminal matters within the state, including probate, juvenile, and traffic matters, as well as civil and criminal jury trials. Currently, there are 253 circuit court judges in Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court, composed of seven justices, is the state's highest court. Located in the state capitol, the Supreme Court has appellate jurisdiction over all Wisconsin courts and has discretion to determine which cases it will review. The Supreme Court also may hear original actions—cases that have not been heard previously in another Wisconsin court.
